Guide-on posts make it easy to load your boat onto your trailer and back your trailer down the ramp. They attach to the rear of your trailer and extend out of the water, providing visual targets to center the boat between during loading.

Features:

  • Guideposts provide a visual target on your trailer to help you load and unload your boat
    • Extend out of the water to help you center your boat while loading
    • Assist you in backing your trailer down the boat ramp
  • 16-Gauge, pre-galvanized steel posts are strong and durable
  • White PVC pipes slide over steel posts so you can see your submerged trailer
  • Simple installation on rear crossmember of trailer frame with included hardware - no drilling required
    • Adjusts out to 13" from trailer
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Quantity: 2 boat guide-ons
  • Application: trailer frames up to 3" wide x 4-1/4" tall
    • For frames up to 5-1/4" tall, 2 extra-long U-bolt kits (CE11416 - sold separately) are required
  • Steel post diameter: 1-1/2"
  • PVC post diameter: 2-3/8"
  • Overall height: 40"

Note: Check with your state Department of Transportation for restrictions regarding maximum trailer width.

Guide Your Boat Into and Out of the Water with Ease

When your boat trailer has been backed down the ramp and is partially submerged, these 40" tall guideposts that are mounted on the rear corners of the frame will stick out of the water, giving you 2 highly visible targets to guide your boat between for loading. The PVC pipes also provide a visual aid to help you back your boat trailer down the ramp when you're unloading and loading your boat.

Installation

The posts are simple to install. Slide the PVC pipes over the pre-galvanized steel support posts. Then mount the posts on the top or below the trailer frame, as close to the rear corners as possible. Adjust the posts so that the distance between each post and your boat is less than 1".

Pre-Galvanized Steel

Pre-galvanized steel parts are stamped from a sheet of steel after it has already been galvanized. The edges of pre-galvanized parts often lose their zinc coating during the stamping process. Because of the thinness of the coating (less than 1 mil) and the fact that the edges remain exposed, pre-galvanized parts can begin to oxidize and rust quickly, so it's recommended that they be primed and painted.

Easy to install. Rugged. I can now see where the back of my trailer is at. Was pretty much guesswork before. Also I don't have to think about if it is lined up correctly. A time saver on busy launch pads.

Great. Withstood a Northern Maine winter just fine. Looks like the day I put them on.

by:

I have a 20' pontoon boat that is a bear to load up. I put a set of these guides on the aft end of the trailer and it made a huge difference. I am planning on getting a set for the front of the trailer to make it even easier. I did have to turn the metal bracket around to get more width and buy longer PVC, but no complaints here.

by:

The specification for this model states it can only reach 13 inches out from the frame but I needed 14 inches for my pontoon. However from the product photos I could see that the vertical arm is longer than the cross arm so I thought I could mount it “upside down” and get the reach I need. Because it is a bargain I took a chance and ordered it. As shown in the photos it worked perfectly. I not only got the extra reach (width) but it also lowered the top of the PVC pipe so it clears my deck which I also wanted. Now I can simply pull the back of the pontoon over until it hits the bumper and it will be centered perfectly. To temporarily provide the visibility needed to back into deep water I simply slide a 5 foot section of half inch PVC pipe inside as shown. It is an excellent product, very heavy duty and I highly recommend it.

Still working great.

by:

Absolutely love the guide on especially when backing your trailer in without the boat and you can’t see the trailer. Highly recommend them. It would be great if they came with reflector strips for travel.

by:

Perfect guide , wife has no issues loading the boat to the trailer

by:

Super easy to install, took about 30 minutes. Now it is super easy to get my boat on trailer. I shouldn't have waited so long to get these!

by:

The trailer guides are extremely well constructed. Video online is helpful. The printed directions and the printing on box offer visual help as well. Be sure your end caps are in the direction you want, as they are very difficult to remove once placed. Heads up... The guides inch closer to the boat as you tighten the front bolts.
Take note of that, as my boat is widest in the middle, and one inch of clearance in the back would not be enough clearance for the middle of the boat. Highly recommend product, can't wait to try them!

by:

I inspected the content of the package ,checked it over
Looks like it is well constructed
I am happy with this product, I will install it on my boat trailer in about two weeks
I have purchased numerous products from your company and have been. Extremely happy with products and services
Always have received my orders in really fast time

by:

They were a pain to install, but that's probably because my trailer is built different than most I've seen. They do work very well and I'm happy to have them on. I also added the lights for the top of the posts. We fish late into the dark and these are fantastic for loading the boat. And I like that they make the trailer more visible on the road. With all the distracted driving these days, you need all the help you can get. I do wish they had a turn signal option, but I suppose I could wire that up and make it happen. Overall, I'm very pleased with them and definitely recommend them.

After a year, they are still working as they should. Im very pleased with my purchase of these, and the lighted caps for the top of the posts. I highly recommend, both the posts and the cap lights.

by:

Super fast shipping and easy to install. Seems like a quality product. Haven’t taken the boat out with them on yet but excited to try it. Should make loading back on the trailer easier.

by:

Everything it says it does. Works fanta stic.

by:

So far, I only used my boat a hand fill of times since I installed the guides on to my boat and they worked great. It was so easy to get the boat onto the trailer. All I did is guide the boat to the front roller and use the trailer winch to bring it in the rest of the way (about 5ft.) so easy. And the post-style guide-ons kept the back of the boat lined up with the rear roller. I have a 16ft aluminum V-bottom boat with a 15 hp motor, works great for me.

by:

Little slow on the shipping, but was no fault of etrailer

by:

Easy to install these well made guides. These keep the back of the boat from being blown sideways, and in my case, allow me to see my narrow little boat when I’m backing up, or just driving down the road. I had an extra set of trailer lights that weren’t really good enough to submerge, so after I finished installing these I attached these lights to the PVC top cap, then just ran the wires down and connected to my existing wiring. Now I can really see, and be seen. Please note that the lights in my image DO NOT come with these.

My trailer has very skinny rails open on one side. If yours is this way, I advise cutting a block of pressure treated wood to just fit in the rail with a few hammer blows. Otherwise the shackles of these guides will bend the open ends inward, causing them to loosen. This isn’t a problem with this product, it’s just my cheapo trailer not being made of 4 sided box channel. Everything still looks new!

by:

The steel brackets need to be longer on trailer mount end so they fit modern pontoon and tritoon boat trailer with the 8ft 6 wider beam

I took a look the options that we have. While I do noit have longer steel brackets, I wondered is part # CES47FR would work better for you. It has a 70-degree tilt to the posts to accommodate a wider hull.

by:

Great products....the posts, lights, and plug all were shipped quickly and easy to install. Finally have my lights up high and out of the water. I used 3 wire extension cord to run uncut lines from the lights to the plug at front of trailer. Should protect against corrosion issues. Pictures of my install are attached.

Thanks

James

This has worked out well. Lights and connections never touch the salt water. I did the same thing on the trailer for 25 center console.

by:

These trailer guides have made it extremely easy to load our 25 ft boat in windy weather. Had to notch the rear step and drill holes to attach due to the design of my trailer, but even so it took less than an hour to install.

Don

These work extremely well when loading in windy weather - the boat stays in place making it easy for one person to load.

by:

Boat guide arrived on time and all parts required in package. Ranger boat trailer has a fender well that goes to back of trailer so your support folks advised that I install on top of C frame. All went well but the Ranger is wide so the guide insert at the frame is 1.5 inches short of going to the end of the bracket. Guide is really sturdy and should work fine. Only other choice would be to use 5" U bolts and move the mounting bracket forward and inch. I have not been able to find 5" brackets in hardware stores or on line.....do you know where they are available? Guide looks great and look forward to trying it out at the lake.

Awesome, no complaints!

by:

Easy installation, sturdy

by:

the u bolts that came with the kit did not fit my shorelandr trailer but i bought some to make it work!

by:

I installed one set and it has really helped the tritoon align when loading at the rear of the trailer. I put a guide on each side of the middle toon. Love it !

Still loving the guides, big help with loading.

by:

They work very well. It helps loading and unloading very much.

by:

Easy to install and very useful as a safety addition and helps with loading our wave runners. They make backing up a lot easier in tight places. Highly recommend.

Mark N.

1/8/2024

My opinion hasnt changed on these guide ons. Backing up is easier and so is loading.

by:

Nice product, great price. The only way to improve it would be to make the angle brackets and steel hardware out of Stainless steel. I would pay extra if they had the option.

Joe A.

6/22/2023

Very well. I use it in saltwater, so a few times i sprayed some light rust areas with silver paint. I would absolutely buy the exact same product if I ever needed another one. I highly recommend it to all.

  • Available Guide-On Heights for Boat Trailer
They sure do. They're available in several different lengths shorter than the 75 inch high # CE27636 guide-ons that you'd looked at. Here are the un-lighted versions: • 65 inches tall, part # CE27637 • 60 inches tall, part # CE27640 • 40 inches tall, part # CE27620 If you'd prefer lighted guide-ons, those are available as well in certain heights: • 60 inches tall, part # CE27760 • 40 inches tall, part # CE27740

  • Availability of Vertical Posts for Rear Corners of PWC Trailer
I'd recommend something like the CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons, part # CE27620. The posts easily mount to the trailer using the included u-bolts. A lighted post system like # CE27740 is also available. It'd make your jet ski easier to load in low light situations, as well as making your trailer more visible when towing at night.

  • Will Malone Safety Pole for Trailers Help With Boat Trailer Visibility
For added visibility for a boat trailer, yes it would be a really smart idea to use the Malone Safety Pole for Trailers # MPG488. If you don't have enough room for clamp-on guide-ons, the # MPG488 would be the best alternative, and you can attach it to any type of mounting hole if the clamp isn't large enough for the area on your trailer you want it to fit. I have added a link below to a video review for you to check out as well.

  • Availability Of CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons In Larger Sizes
Indeed we do sell the CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons for pontoon boat trailers in larger sizes. The 22" long # CE27670 that you were looking at are actually the smallest size. I know not all of these say "pontoon boat" in the title, but you can certainly still use them for pontoon boat applications. All of them come with the basically the same brackets and bolts, just different size guide ons. I will list the other sizes below. 40" Tall # CE27620 60" Tall # CE27640 65" Tall # CE27637 75"...

  • Could CE Smith Guide Ons Install on Boat Trailer with Fenders that Extend to Back of Trailer
It sounds like you'll need to do some fab work in order to get the guide-ons to work. I believe your best bet would be to eliminate the u-bolts and have the brackets welded to the top or the underside of the frame member. If the fender step doesn't extend more than 13 inches from the side of the frame member, you can mount to the underside of the frame and the upright portion of the guide-on will clear the step. Otherwise, you'd need to attach to the top of the frame member.
